Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia
This talk will review the symptoms and behaviors often termed behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). Literature that lead to national guidelines will be evaluated and explained for a better understanding of the pathophysiology and treatment of these often distressing symptoms. The place in therapy of antipsychotics and other medical and non-medical interventions in the treatment of BPSD will be discussed in detail. Finally and importantly, these medications should not be prescribed indefinitely and deprescribing techniques will be shared.

She graduated from MCPHS in Worcester, MA in 2004 and has been practicing at MHMMCP since 2009. Dr. Centanni is triple board certified as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), a Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP) and a Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP).
