Identifying and Closing Gaps in Care for Mainers with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD)
The 1000 Lives Campaign, managed by the Maine Medical Association’s Center for Quality Improvement, is actively working to implement a set of evidence-based, clinician-focused interventions aimed at improving the treatment of opioid use disorders (OUDs) within Maine’s medical community. This effort is led by Maine’s physician and clinician leadership, in partnership with the State and other key stakeholders. Every clinician has an essential role to play, and we recognize and deeply appreciate the ongoing efforts across the state to identify, treat, and support individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) and opioid use disorder (OUD) on their path to recovery.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify Evidence-Based Interventions for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) Treatment
Participants will learn about a set of evidence-based clinician-specific interventions designed to improve the treatment of opioid use disorders (OUDs) across various healthcare settings in Maine. - Tailor OUD Treatment Approaches for Diverse Healthcare Settings
Participants will understand how to adapt and implement OUD treatment strategies in different settings, including hospital emergency departments, primary care practices, behavioral health clinics, pharmacies, correctional facilities, and more. - Promote Cross-Sector Collaboration to Enhance OUD Care and Support
Participants will explore how collaboration across healthcare sectors can strengthen support systems for individuals affected by OUDs in Maine, aiming for a unified approach to improve patient care and outcomes.

Christy McGlynnMBAChristy McGlynn joined the Maine Medical Association- Center for Quality Improvement as a Project Manager with the 1000 lives campaign in January of 2025. She grew up in Lewiston, Maine and later settled in Jay, Maine to start her family. Christy received her associate’s degree as a Medical Assistant in 2007 and while working in a primary care provider’s office, she obtained her BA in Business Administration specializing in health care. After changing her career from Medical Assistant to Office Manager, she continued her education and obtained her MBA in 2018 and followed her passion of working with people in recovery at an outpatient opioid addiction recovery company as a Regional Director.
Christy is very passionate about the Maine community that has been hit by the opioid epidemic and looks forward to her work with Maine Medical Associations – Center for Quality Improvement as she works to help both our Maine health care systems, and our communities come together to help people become the healthiest version of themselves that they can be.
