Project ECHO: SUD through a Pharmacy Lens

A recent survey found that 1/3 of pharmacies reported not being equipped to adequately serve the unique needs of individuals with SUD. By examining harm reduction practices, polices, standing orders, the impact of stigma, and overdose response steps and options, this ECHO intends to equip pharmacists and the next generation of pharmacists (ie. students) with knowledge and skills in order to better serve patients. The expert faculty including both inpatient and community pharmacists and harm reduction specialists will lend their years of insight and expertise on best practices and evidence-based strategies.

Learning Objectives:

1.      Identify existing standing orders on the Local, State, and Federal Level, and potential policies/solutions being explored

2.      Describe purpose and best practices of harm reduction and low barrier clinics

3.      Detail patient educational strategies for overdose response steps and reversal options

4.      Recognize the impact of stigma on individuals with SUD
