Recovery Coaching 101 for Medical Professionals
Join Denise Black and Terri Woodruff for a discussion on the growing role of recovery coaching. As recovery coaching continues to become integrated in a variety of systems and communities, ongoing education regarding how to access a coach, and the role of a recovery coach will continue to become more important. Recovery coaching is growing as a profession in Maine due to its effectiveness in not only helping people find recovery, but to also stay in recovery.
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will be able to define recovery based on SAMHSA’s and CCAR’s definition.
- Attendees will be able to list three core values of peer support.
- Attendees will be able to identify tasks peers can participate in within teams and which tasks clinicians must perform.
- Attendees will consider the differences between clinical supervision and peer supervision.
- Attendees will be able to identify resources for ongoing education for recovery coaches and staff.

As Co-Directors of the Maine Alliance for Recovery Coaching (Maine-ARC) they offer technical assistance, oversee, and are CoacherVisors for (5) Recovery Coach Coordinators that serve 10 counties in Maine. In addition, they offer training, technical assistance, and help to oversee our Maine Recovery Core interns.
