Sudden Unexpected Infant Death and Infant Safe Sleep in Maine
Meredith Jackson, MD will lead this presentation on the preventable tragedy of sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) in Maine. Every year, infants die while in unsafe sleep environments, with certain infants—such as those born to parents with substance use disorders—at higher risk. Through education and access to resources available across the state, we have the power to prevent these deaths and support families in creating safer sleep environments for their babies.

Meredith Jackson, MDMeredith Jackson, MD is a Newborn and Pediatric Hospitalist at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center and has been in practice since 2015. As the Director of the Newborn Teaching Service and the head of Safe Sleep initiatives at Maine Medical Center, she takes a strong interest in preventative newborn care. Originally from Massachusetts, she attended medical school at the University of Vermont and did pediatrics residency here in Maine. She has two young children and loves being so close to the ocean.
