Expanding the Conversation

Join the ME SUD Learning Community in the new interview series “Expanding the Conversation.” The mission of the ME SUD Learning Community is to support Prescribing Clinicians and their Teams to provide more evidence-based treatment to individuals and their families affected by Substance Use Disorders and Opioid Use Disorder (SUD/OUD), to promote recovery and reduce drug overdose deaths. We believe one way this can be accomplished is by highlighting the lived experience of individuals in recovery. These interviews are not intended to be “success” stories, as we understand that recovery is not a binary experience. Instead, these interviews will highlight first-hand accounts of clinical practices that contributed to an individual’s recovery, as well as ones that did not. We will also discuss the relationships individuals built with their providers, and the impact these relationships had on recovery. Our hope is to center individuals seeking treatment within the discussion of best practices in the treatment of SUD and OUD by clinicians.
