The Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) monitors the prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances. The team works to support prescribers and dispensers in their use of the PMP database and inform prescribers and dispensers of their patterns in the prescribing or dispensing of controlled substances. Created by statute in 2003 as a public safety tool in the States effort to combat the ongoing opioid crisis.
